John 8 (7:53-8:11)
[...] And each one departed to his own house. But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. Early in the morning he came to the temple courts again. All the people came to him, and he sat down and began to teach them. The experts in the law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught committing adultery. They made her stand in front of them and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. In the law Moses commanded us to stone to death such women. What then do you say?" (Now they were asking this in an attempt to trap him, so that they could bring charges against him.) Jesus bent down and wrote on the ground with his finger. When they persisted in asking him, he stood up straight and replied, "Whoever among you is guiltless may be the first to throw a stone at her." Then he bent over again and wrote on the ground.
Now when they heard this, they began to drift away one at a time, starting with the older ones, until Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. Jesus stood up straight and said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?" She replied, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "I do not condemn you either. Go, and from now on do not sin any more."[...]

一天清早，耶稣正在给众人讲道，忽然传来一阵吵嚷声，只见一群人拥着一个被缚绑的女人走进来。其中一位来到耶稣跟前说：“这女人是在她行淫时被抓到的。依照摩西的法令，这样的女人该用石头砸死。你看应该如何处置她？”耶稣听完并没有回答，而是弯下腰，用手指在地上写字。可是那些人还是不停的像耶稣发问。最后耶稣直起身，对他们说：“你们当中谁没有犯过罪，谁就可以用石头砸死这个女人。”说完他又弯下腰在地上继续写字。那群人听了耶稣的话，相互看了看，一个个溜走了，最后只剩下耶稣和那个女人。耶稣抬起头，问那个女人说：“他们都到哪里去了！没人留下来定你罪吗？”那女人说：“没有，都走了。”耶稣又说：“那好，我也不定你的罪，去吧，今后不要再犯。”
